Veneer Types Offered at Matthews Smiles

If you are unhappy with the appearance of your teeth, consult with one of our dentists to find out if veneers are a good option for you. Here at Matthews Smiles in Provo, UT, we offer two types of veneers, including:

Traditional veneers. This is the most durable type and requires us to remove a small amount of your tooth’s enamel in order to help the veneer adhere to your teeth.
No-prep veneers. With this type, you get to retain all of your enamel, but the veneers are sheer and don’t last as long.

If you have severely stained, misaligned, or damaged teeth, traditional veneers are likely the better option for you. But if your teeth have only minor flaws, no-prep veneers may work for you and have the advantage of being reversible.

What are Veneers?

Veneers are wafer thing dental procelain which is placed over a tooth. Veneers are perfect for a wide range of issues ranging from covering deeply discoloured teeth, chipped teeth, worn teeth, and misshapen teeth.

Perhaps one of the strongest advantages of veneers is the extra protection they provide your teeth without doing any additional damage to the natural tooth. The thin porcelain veneer will protect your natural tooth from further decay and damage. A fragile tooth can break down even further over time but with the assistance of a veneer, your tooth is given additional strength with porcelain lamination.

How Long do Veneers Last?

Porcelain veneers are not a permanent solution due to the wafer-thin nature of the shells. Though a good veneer can last for about a decade, they are not the perfect solution for every tooth, but they are a fantastic solution to provide a cosmetic solution which will make your smile stunning and white.

Expectations for Dental Veneer Performance

Many of our patients are amazed at the difference veneers make to their smile. If you’re interested in getting veneers, here’s what you can expect from the treatment process.

First, one of our dentists will assess your mouth and consult with you to determine what type of veneers will work best in your situation. Then we will make impressions of your teeth, which we’ll use to create custom veneers for you. This process typically takes 10 to 14 days.

While you wait for your custom veneers to be created, we’ll supply you with temporary versions. Once your new veneers are ready, we’ll bond them to your teeth, and you won’t have to replace them for about 10 to 15 years, provided that you take good care of them.
